Prairie Wife
Harlequin Historical
Nominated for a Romantic Times Reviewers Choice Award.
4 1/2 stars from Romantic Times:
"Prairie Wife is a very special book, courageously executed by the author
and her publisher. Her considerable skill brings the common theme of the romance
novel--love conquers all--to the level of genuine catharsis.
"The complex effects of grief on the characters' relationship demand
that the reader be brave enough to be drawn into their story. The reward is
an equal share in their love and the recovery love makes possible."

The Tenderfoot Bride
Harlequin Historical #679
November 2003
ISBN 0-373-292791-6
Will and Linnea's story is one I'd wanted to tell for quite a while
now. When I had the opportunity to write it, I had fun pairing the mismatched
couple and seeing how long Will could resist her.
Will Tucker is a gruff impatient rancher, eager to hire an experienced cook
and housekeeper so he can shift part of the workload from his own shoulders
to those of the capable Widow McConoughy.
Then Linnea McConoughy shows up. She's young. Timid. And entirely inappropriate
for the hardships and workload she's hired to handle. And she has secrets...
After all, what would be the fun of throwing these two people together if there
weren't tantalizing secrets in the mix?
I hope THE TENDERFOOT BRIDE is as much of a pleasure for you to read as it
was for me to write.
~ Cheryl
Reviews/Quotes:
CHERYL ST.JOHN creates a story of two wounded people who discover love
can make a difference in a harsh frontier. I couldn't help but feel deeply
the power of emotions in THE TENDERFOOT BRIDE. The characters in this
book are what I imagine the real pioneers of this country were like.
The cruelties of life made them tough and stronger than they thought
themselves to be, until love makes them realize they deserve true happiness.
For those of you who enjoy a rough, western hero and a heroine who learns
to trust again, THE TENDERFOOT BRIDE will fill a few hours with true
grit.
- Dorine Linnen, Romance Junkies; http://www.romancejunkies.com
In addition to a strong-willed though emotionally battered heroine,
readers of THE TENDERFOOT BRIDE will also meet the kind of hero that
makes your toes curl. For those of you that have been romance readers
for a while, you've probably read the book, THE RAINBOW SEASON by Lisa
Gregory. Shift the roles of the hero and heroine, once you've done that,
it goes without saying that plenty of kleenex is a must for reading this
novel. As an added incentive for reading the book, I can tell you there
is a secondary romance that is every bit as wonderful as Linnea and Will's
story. There is also a ranch hand named Cimarron that I am just praying
the author intends to bring back to us at some point. I hope your keeper
shelves are not too full because THE TENDERFOOT BRIDE is one more book
you'll want to add.
- Livia Holton, The Romance Readers Connection 4 1/2 Plugs; www.theromancereadersconnection.com
"....not many readers will be able to hold back their tears as
they reach the conclusion of THE TENDERFOOT BRIDE, a well written historical
tale taking place during the early days of settling of the West. I highly
recommend this title for a sweet romance (or two) with estimable values."
- Carol Carter, Romance Reviews Today; www.romrevtoday.com
"...not only a must-read, but a keeper as well."
"Cheryl St. John is back and once again doing what she does best, reaching
deep into her readers' souls and touching every corner of their hearts with her
heartwarming tale about illiteracy, spousal abuse and the healing power of love
with The Tenderfoot Bride.
After reading The Tenderfoot Bride, readers will understand just why the compassionate
Ms. St. John holds a spot in my top five list of must read Harlequin Historicals
authors. She is an amazingly gifted author."
