Newly knighted naval hero Nicholas Sinclair had taken command of her beloved Thornwood Hall, and Becky Forester vowed to end his interference. But the longer he stayed, the more the reason appeared to be the capture of her very heart and soul...!
This is Gloria Millers review of A Wish for Nicholas:
Reviews From The Literary Times;
Nicholas Sinclair is recuperating from injuries he suffered at sea during a battle in which all of his crew were killed. A grateful King Charles gives him Thornwood Hall as a reward and instructs him to find out why the once profitable estate has failed to pay its taxes for the last several years. As soon as he's accomplished that, he will sell the manor and use those funds to buy a ship. Dutifully though reluctantly, Nick goes to Thornwood disguised as a commoner hoping to investigate the estate's books and discover the reason for it's decline. Becky Forrester mistakes him for someone else and orders him to be nanny to her baby brother. Nick goes along with the charade but his identity is soon revealed when Becky finds his telescope in her study. Becky did what she had to do in order to keep her brothers and sister together at Thornwood Hall, but what she did could land her in prison. Though Becky and Nick love each other, neither one can allow the other to succeed for if Nick sells the estate her family will be torn apart. Yet if Becky prevents him from selling the estate, Nick will not have the money he needs to buy a ship and return to sea. Could there possibly be a solution that would benefit them all?
The goals, motivation and conflicts of the hero and heroine are thoroughly developed making this romance enjoyable and easy to read. Terrifically strong and stubborn, Nick and Becky are wonderful, dynamic characters! Jackie Manning's latest book, A Wish for Nicholas, will propel her to new heights! -Gloria Miller
