"Did you mean what you said, Jen? Would you really become my lover?"
"Is that what you are asking of me?"
Chad shook his head. "No," he said. "It's what I want but it's not what I'm asking. Not now."
Jennifer frowned, not certain of his meaning. "Why not now?"
"Because I don't believe we are ready." He was not ready. But she touched a warm spot deep inside him with her willingness to make such a commitment. It told him a lot about how she was feeling.
I feel ready," she whispered as she looked down at the place where their hands rested. "I haven't touched a man before," she confessed.
He should hope not! "That's all right, sweetheart. You can touch me."
She giggled as she began to explore, lightly and tentatively, and a light blush covered her cheeks as she looked into his eyes again. "This is wicked, isn't it?"
"This is one of the happiest moments of my life, Jen," he said as he reached out and touched her cheek with his fingertips. "Share it with me." He could feel his breath catching in the back of his throat as he allowed her to explor.
