(My first newsletter so far)

December 2003

Happy Holidays,

Okay, this is my first e-newsletter so it'll probably be short, but hopefully it will be entertaining. Bear in mind that I am a novice at this. Regardless, my newsletter is definitely long overdue.

On the business front...
My latest release, Miranda's Mistake, was reviewed by Romantic Times magazine with this to say... "Jenna Mindel pens a heartwarming tale that shows the ability of love to recover amid pain and disappointment."

Hooray! A good review is always nice to receive. :) I've always liked romances where the hero and heroine have a "past". Miranda's Mistake was actually born out of a one-page workshop writing exercise that I did years ago in a meeting of Central New York Romance Writers. http://www.dm.net/~cnyrw/ (I keep everything writing related... you just never know) The hero, Evan Langley - Earl of Ashbourne and the heroine, Miranda - the Lady Crandle were once engaged but Miranda broke it off to marry another..... the book opens seven years later. Miranda, now widowed, and Evan come face to face at a house party during the famous hunting season in the Shires.
This book is totally separate from my first three books. I have an excerpt on my website if you'd like to check it out, just click on the link below.

My 5th book Kiss of the Highwayman is a sequel to Miranda's Mistake. This book comes out in March 2004! This is the first book I've ever written that has an honest to goodness real villain in it! And he's really bad. I had a lot of fun writing this book. It's more of a romp than a dark tale even though the hero is secretly playing the role of a highwayman in order to catch the bandits who killed his brother. There's a lot of action.

I am currently working on my 6th book, titled Miss Whitlow's Turn. It has been said that good things come in threes. This is a sequel to Kiss of the Highwayman. Keep checking my website for updates.

On the personal front....
My husband, Steve, and I are the proud new owners of a snowmobile. It's a two-seater or Two-UP. We are looking forward to whirling away the cold winter months of Northern Michigan on the nearby trails. It definitely is a cure for cabin fever.

Like many of you, I am bustling to get my Christmas shopping and mailing done - not to mention baking. I'm getting a craving for sugar cookies. I always do this time of year. So I will let you go, and wish you all a very warm and safe and Happy Holiday Season.

Warm wishes,
Jenna Mindel

March 2004 E-Newsletter

Greetings and Happy Spring -

Finally, the snow has melted, the robins have made their yearly appearance into my yard and I’m ready for warm weather.

My latest news is that my 5th regency romance hit the shelves this month. Kiss of the Highwayman is the sequel to last year’s Miranda’s Mistake. It is a fun read - especially for a rainy afternoon, with a nasty villain and a lot of adventure. The reviews I’m receiving are pretty good too - Romantic Times Magazine gave it a 4 star rating. J Of course my most honest critic, my husband, thoroughly enjoyed it and raves that it is the best book I’ve written! I tend to think so too - but I’ll let you be the judge. Here’s the snippet blurb - what’s it all about?

KISS OF THE HIGHWAYMAN
Jenna Mindel
(Signet Regency)
Nothing can stop Artemis Rothwell from making her London come-out. Not even
rumors of the vicious Highwaymen, a gang of once-noble gentlemen who have
turned to robbing--sometimes even killing--innocent travelers. But to be on
the safe side, clever Artemis and her stepmother have left their jewels at
home. All their jewels, that is, except the Rothwell Ring.

The nightmarish legend comes true when the Highwaymen appear en route to
London and seize the ring from the Rothwell ladies. Even more disarming,
however, is the passionate kiss that one of the thieves gives
Artemis--along with a whispered promise to restore the ring. Now the girl
has no idea what to think. But the ardent kiss has etched its memory on her
lips--and Artemis lives for the moment when her masked man will fulfill his
promise.

More news - my 6th Regency continues with this series of characters by picking up Harriet Whitlow’s foolhardy crush upon George Clasby. Miss Whitlow’s Turn will hit the shelves in January 2005. And I have just entered a contract for another regency that has a tentative release date of December 2005. I’m still in the planning stages, but I can tell you that Lucinda Bronwell, mentioned in Kiss of the Highwayman, will definitely get her story - she’s urging me to tell it, and so I must. It is amazing how these characters demand their own books!

Well, that’s just about it for me on the writing front. On the personal front, I pruned my hybrid tea roses and I’m anxiously awaiting the verdict of their survival - I planted them late last spring. I can see my tulips and daffodils poking their heads up through the ground. I’m so excited about this spring since it has come rather early for northwestern Lower Michigan!

Hoping you have a lovely season filled with flowers and sunshine.

Have a great Spring and a safe and blessed Easter,
Jenna

February 2005 E-Newsletter

Greetings,

I hope this finds you all happy and healthy and holding out patiently for spring. Personally, I enjoy winter - so I don't usually get antsy for warmer weather until the end of March.

As you may have noticed, my newsletters are spotty at best. But I wanted to be sure to let you know that my most recent release, Miss Whitlow's Turn (January 2005) and my next book, Lord Grafton's Promise (November 2005) will wrap up the series where Miranda's Mistake (April 2003) first started.
Miss Whitlow's turn is a light-hearted romp and here is what the reviewers had to say...

This is a charmingly told story with some extremely likeable characters. Regency fans should adore this one. - Rakehell, reviews

Very fun reading - Love Romances

Endearing - Romantic Times Magazine

A charming tale! - Rendezvous

Miss Whitlow's Turn opens with Harriet Whitlow at her wits end. Her father tries to marry her off yet again but Harriet's heart has been stolen by the dashing rake, George Clasby. You may remember Harriet from Miranda's Mistake & Kiss of the Highwayman as Artemis' solid and level headed friend. She had a hopeless crush upon Mr. Clasby who also made his appearance in both books! So, of course, they had to have their own story. You can go online to my web-page and read an excerpt at www.tlt.com/authors/jennamindel.htm .

Lord Grafton was a character who thoroughly surprised me. First introduced in Miss Whitlow's Turn, I found myself wanting the arrogant young lord to find luck in love, but he needed a woman who could hold her own. After all, he is a misguided man with way too high of an opinion of himself, but I couldn't help but love him! Lord Grafton's Promise is his story, but he's not exactly lucky - the book opens with him rushing to the scene of an overturned carriage. He finds newly wed, fortune hunter, Lucinda Bronwell in dire straits when her husband is poisoned! Lord Grafton can only wonder if the contemptible Miss Bronwell had a hand in her husband's early demise.... and so the mystery begins. Keep checking my web-page for a cover and an excerpt.

Until then, have a wonderful day and keep reading romance!

All books may be purchased through www.amazon.com

Warm wishes,
Jenna Mindel
