Becca Bass longs to leave the dry, dusty landscape of West Texas and find her dream come true-- a man like the ones in the love stories she reads. But then fate brings her dream to her parents' doorstep in the form of Morgan Daniels, New York attorney. Morgan has come looking for Becca's legendary father, Harmon Bass to help track down the outlaws who kidnapped his stepfather. But when a recent injury prevents Harmon from helping him, Becca steps in. She only wants to gain the attention and admiration of the handsome man, but what starts as a foolhardy adventure turns into a deadly game and the lives of the people she loves are at stake.

Determined to save his stepfather, Morgan accepts an offer of help from the pretty Becca Bass. She proves to be quite a distraction and before he leaves West Texas Morgan is ready to set her up as his mistress-- until he finds out who her family is and realizes his mistake. This isn't some poor little country girl, Becca's family is wealthy and one of his firm's biggest clients. But when Morgan goes back to Texas, he'll be taking Becca's heart with him. How can he forget the sweet Texas beauty when she's the woman who taught him what love really is?

Sweet Texas Dreams is fifth in Dana Ransom's Bass series and a stunning conclusion to a memorable family saga. The plot is filled with enough twists to keep the pages turning, but it is the characters that keep the story fresh and special. Becca and Morgan are a perfect pair, each searching for something that they can only find in each other. Morgan is the dapper attorney, groomed for a life of privilege and luxury, but his heart yearns for family and love. Becca has grown up in West Texas but wants more-- a man who isn't rough and dusty, a man who will love her. A man like Morgan. Nancy Gideon has said this is probably her last book writing as Dana Ransom so even if you haven't read the first four books of the Bass series, don't miss this wonderful love story!
"Dana Ransom does it best! Her romances come to life through three dimensional characters that become a part of your heart!"
"A wonderful ending to a special series! Even if you haven't read the other books in the series, Sweet Texas Dreams will make you want to find out more about this strong, loving family!"
"Once again Dana Ransom takes romance to new heights! Her talent is legendary, her books are keepers! If you haven't read Dana Ransom, you haven't read historical romance at its finest!"

An excerpt from Sweet Texas Dreams:

Becca stood out in the hallway staring at the gold numbers on Morgan Daniels's door. She wasn't at all sure that what she was doing was the right thing but her heart was echoing the throb of his claim, I want to make love with you, and wasn't paying any attention to what her head might tell it. This was her chance to win the kind of man she'd always dreamed about. What was she waiting for? She was twenty years old and he was the only man to kiss her, to touch her and make her yearn for more.

She pushed open the door.

Morgan was stretched out upon his turned down bed; her every indecent dream. He was in his shirt sleeves and his feet were bare. For a long moment, she couldn't tear her gaze from the curve of his arches and those long toes. Her pulse was doing funny little stops and starts as she tried to swallow down her nervousness.

"I-I wanted to see how you were doing but I can see you're resting. Maybe I should just stop back tomorrow."

Morgan wasn't sure why she'd come but he certainly wasn't about to let her leave. "You don't have to go. I could use the company to take my mind off things."

She smiled and edged farther into the room. It was then he could see how different she looked. Gone was the clean glow of innocence from her face. Bold sweeps of color called attention to the fine line of her cheekbones and hid the endearing scatter of freckles. The mouth he'd thought so kissable was rouged into a tempting pout of scarlet. Morgan was confused by this new dramatic look. It was blatant, sexy . . . cheap. It seemed unnatural upon the woman he'd come to know over the last few days. Aesthetically and morally, he was disapproving. Physically, he growled to life.

"Was there something specific you wanted?"

She was silent for a long moment then said, "I-it was something you said to me. I-I was wondering if you meant it." She glanced at him shyly, her expression vulnerable beneath the painted layers of experience.

"I meant it."

He could see her jerky swallowing all the way across the room. "Oh."

His tone gentled. "Does that frighten you?"

"No . . . yes." She reddened miserably then looked him in the eye with an unnerving directness. "No."

"Come over here, Becca."

She hesitated just out of reach, a gleam of caution narrowing her eyes. As if she wasn't sure she trusted his motives. As well she probably shouldn't.

"Wouldn't you be more comfortable without that shawl? It's quite warm, don't you think?"

She let the wrap slip down inch by reluctant inch, baring inch after tantalizing inch of bare skin. The gown was cut incredibly low, hanging by will power upon the tips of her partially exposed breasts. Morgan's mouth went desert dry as he watched a rosy flush of color rise up from that scandalous neck line. He never in his wildest imaginings would have pictured her in such a dress. It might have offended his sense of taste but his baser emotions dropped to his loins and burned there like a hot fire brick. If seduction could take a form it was that tawdry green satin.

He reached out a hand, letting his palm curve to fit the snug corsetting at her waist. She went very still, waiting for his next move.

"Is that why you came here? Because of what I said?"

Becca took a deep breath, unaware of the threat of gravity as her breast swelled over the immodest neck line. All she knew was that she couldn't back down now.

"Yes," she whispered.

". . . By Any Other Name"
