Sammie Ward is a fiction and nonfiction writer born and raised in North Little Rock, Arkansas, and now living in Maryland. She began writing short stories on the advice of a friend. Her first short story was sold to Black Romance. With new found confidence she wrote and has sold a total of twenty short stories before turning her attention back to her first love: writing novels.
She has written for Black Romance, Black Confessions, Black Secrets, Bronze Thrills, Jive, True Black Experience, and True Confessions magazines to name a few. In April 2005, she was voted: Best New Fiction & Drama Writer Of The Year, by the Disilgold Literary National Association for her debut novel, In The Name Of Love.
Also a contributing health writer. Her health articles have appeared on DOENetwork, W3 Lifestyle, and Health Net websites. They have also been featured in Amag, Family Digest, Jive, Black Romance, and Global Woman Magazines.
Frustrated with traditional publishing houses, determining the standard for readers, she formed Lady Leo Publishing in September 2004 to published her own novels. In The Name Of Love,” is the debut novel. It was followed by, Love To Behold, and Seven Days. Her fourth novel, It’s In The Rhythm will be released in June 2006.
