Here's what some readers and writers have said about Sandee McCann and Shattered Dreams.

Sandee McCann has written a believable, romantic and touching love story that will have you yearning to know what happens next. The story follows Brinna Chase, a legal secretary who, through a chance meeting, gets a second opportunity to rekindle her relationship with a lost love.

Zack Merrick had been injured twelve years before and had broken Brinna's heart when he ended their relationship, claiming that Brinna was too young to be saddled with the responsibilities of taking care of him. Now, Brinna has the opportunity to work in Zack's home, and her relationship with Zack and his brother unfold during this compelling story.

I recommend this book to anyone, male or female, that enjoys a story that is well-written, romantic, believable, passionate, and thought-provoking. Sandee McCann will hold your attention, and your heart, as you read this fine novel.

Brinna Chase hasn't seen Mason Merrick in twelve years until she met him at the law firm she was working as a temporary file clerk. He was one of the lawyers in the firm. Brinna had grown up with Mason and his brothers, having lived next door to the family.

Mason had claimed his love for her all those years ago, but Brinna's heart had belonged to his older brother, Zack. When Mason invites her to his mother's house for supper, she finds the house belongs to Zack.

His mother needs to move in with her sister who has cancer, so Zack offers the job oh housekeeper to Brinna. If perfect, she needs a place to stay, and Zack, who is in a wheelchair after an accident that happened while he and Brinna were dating, needs someone to watch over him.

Brinna soon realizes that she is still very much in love with Zack, only Mason is making her life a real pain.

SHATTERED DREAMS, by Sandee McCann, is a must read about love, betrayal, and abhorrence. McCann has brought the characters of this wonderful book to life. Once you open the book you will be pressed to turn page after page to find out what is going to happen next. I highly recommend this book. I hope I will be able to read more works from this very talented author.

Brinna Chase's temporary job at a Florida law firm will be ending shortly. The building her apartment is in has been sold and her lease will not be renewed. She has been searching for a permanent job and an affordable apartment to no avail and she fears she may have to bite the bullet and move back in with her parents. She happens to meet Mason Merrick, an attorney in the law firm she is temping at. Brinna grew up with Mason and his six brothers. He invites her to lunch, then to dinner to see his mother. As it has been twelve years since she has seen Connie Merrick, she accepts, however, she is concerned about the complications that her past relationship with Mason may cause.

Brinna discovers that Connie Merrick is living with her eldest son, Zack, the man Brinna had a brief affair with when she was sixteen and he was twenty-two. Zack has been involved in an automobile accident, which left him in a wheelchair. Because of his condition, he felt he could not continue his relationship with Brinna. He refused to see her or return her calls. Brinna is confused when he accuses her of having left him when it was Zack who told her to stay out of his life. The dinner is fraught with tension when Brinna realizes her feelings for Zack are just as strong as they were twelve years before.

Connie explains to Brinna that her sister has been diagnosed with caner and she needs to be with her, but she has been unable to find a suitable live-in housekeeper. Zack is adamant that not just anyone be allowed to move into his home. Brinna realizes that it may be the answer to her problems, but worries that her feelings for Zack could complicate their working relationship. She explains her situation and offers to take the job on a temporary basis until a permanent housekeeper can be found. At first, Zack is skeptical, but he decides to accept her offer.

Mason has always been jealous of his older brother, Zack, especially since Mason was in love with Brinna when they were younger; but Brinna was in love with Zack. Mason attempts to complicate the situation with Brinna and Zack by trying to start a relationship with Brinna. Brinna makes the situation worse with both Merrick men when she meets
Patrick at the gym. He tells her he owns an ad agency and may have a job for her; she begins seeing him, but knows her feelings for him are not nearly as strong as her love for Zack. When Mason's plan to woo Brinna fails, he becomes angry and bides his time until he gains privileged information about Brinna that could permanently end her relationship with Zack. Can Brinna save her relationship with the man she loves? Will Zack ever be willing to commit to Marriage with Brinna as long as he reins in a wheelchair?

Sandee McCann has presented the reader well-developed characters and a full-bodied plot. Ms McCann's realistic portrayal of the disabled and the abilities of her characters to work around their difficulties were exceptional. SHATTERED DREAMS makes for an enchanting one sitting-read that all romance genre readers will love. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Sometimes when I start reading a new book, it takes several pages, maybe even the first chapter before I get into the main character, to find out what he or she is made of. But with Sandee McCann's Brinna, in SHATTERED DREAMS, the character comes alive right away. I don't know how to explain this process--the reader connecting with the protagonist--but I do know it is critical for this character to make herself tangible and engaging very soon or else the reader will will turn down the page corner and maybe never pick it up again.

By the third page I wanted to know what happened in Brinna's past, what was going on now, and what was coming her way in the future. That's the result of good characterization and it goes right to the heart of the craft and ability of the author.

A writer can have a dynamite story to tell, but if she cannot bring the characters to life then the story falls flat. That is not the case with SHATTERED DREAMS. It is a great, fast-paced story with characters you think you've met before--and maybe you have; they are realistic.

The things I like about this book is the tweaking and tensions and emotions and misunderstandings. In the real world, misunderstandings make a mess of things, but in a book they can be great fun for the reader as characters stumble into minefields of misspoken remarks, or remarks purposely laid out like a trap in the woods. The reader thinks he sees a particular pitfall ahead, but then he, too, gets tricked by the author as events take a surprising turn.

SHATTERED DREAMS is a great read and it keeps you entertained from beginning to end.
