From advising on some of the UK’s first onshore wind projects to supporting on some of the first wind plus energy storage projects and pathfinder behind-the-meter wind turbine installations with commercial off-takers, we have experience of acting throughout the project lifecycle of onshore wind assets.

Our specialist team acts for organisations involved throughout the lifecycle of a wind farm project, including developers, banks, investors and landowners. We have particular expertise advising on the acquisition / disposal of onshore wind projects from single turbine sites to the UK’s largest wind farms and on the £multi-million debt funding and refinancing for single turbine and on-shore wind portfolios.

We provide end-to-end advice in relation to project structuring, finance, commercial, construction, corporate, regulatory, environmental, health and safety, planning and property issues. Plus we have extensive experience in helping to resolve the complex disputes that can sometimes arise with wind energy schemes.

In addition, our team has advised on some on the most high-profile offshore wind projects in the UK, Europe and globally. We are also appointed to Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult’s four-year Legal Services Framework.

  • Blackfinch Energy on the acquisition of two new wind energy sites in Scotland. The first project is a ROC accredited operating onshore wind farm, the second project is Blackfinch’s first subsidy-free onshore wind development project.
  • Alpha Real Renewables on its entry into the Northern Ireland (NI) energy market with the acquisition of a portfolio of NIRO accredited 250kW operational wind turbines. The portfolio of eleven NIROC accredited wind projects is one of the largest privately owned distributed wind portfolios in Northern Ireland.
  • Offshore developer bidding into the ScotWind process for its proposed floating offshore wind projects in relation to JV arrangements with another major developer in the sector.
