Sam has over 10 years’ banking litigation experience acting for financial institutions, including 1 year as Legal Counsel in the Corporate and Investment Banking Litigation team at Barclays Bank Plc.
He has managed large scale complex litigation and remediation projects, including high profile interest rate swap mis-selling and LIBOR manipulation claims for wealth management, retail and investment banking clients. He has advised in relation to claims involving allegations of fraud, alleged negligent advice and breach of regulatory obligations and has a broad range of litigation experience.
Sam is a Solicitor Advocate with Higher Rights of Audience in the Civil Courts (England and Wales).
Jurisdiction: England & Wales
Acted for the Bank in successfully defending a claim by a care home group in respect of the alleged mis-selling of a structured collar and the conduct of the Bank’s S166 review of the sale of IRHPs. Trial in October 2020.
Acted for the Bank on a substantial claim concerning the consequences of alleged unauthorised manuscript alterations to a loan agreement. Complex issues involved including alleged fraud, restitution, subrogation, misrepresentation, laches and limitation. Settled on confidential terms in January 2021.
Acted for the successful Bank in defending a claim by an aviation company in relation to the sale of IRHPs and alleged LIBOR manipulation. Trial in November 2017.
