Ellie is a Senior Associate in our Pensions team.

She advises trustees and employers of DB, DC and contract based pension schemes in relation to a wide variety of pensions law issues, including day to day running of the pension scheme, de-risking exercises, liability reduction exercises and member complaints. Her particular focus is on risk transfer in relation to defined benefit arrangements, including transfers to master trusts and buy-out.

Experience

  • Advising employers and trustees in relation to the closure of pension schemes to future accrual, transfers to master trusts, buy-out and various liability reduction exercises. This includes advice on preparation for buy-out, including breaking a final salary link, benefit specification reviews and GMP equalisation.
  • Putting in place flexible apportionment arrangements and group company guarantees to assist with corporate re-organisations, where there is a defined benefit pension scheme in the group.
  • Advising in relation to the Pensions Regulator’s anti avoidance powers and criminal sanctions in the context of corporate activities which might affect the group’s pension scheme.
  • A bulk transfer exercise which consolidated an employers’ pension scheme provision and led to more administrative simplicity and more efficiency.
