Jahanara specialises in transactional matters.
She has been involved in numerous projects around the country and abroad and advises both public and private sector clients including public bodies/local authorities, developers, contractors, consultants, funders, end users (such as operators and education clients), and private individuals. In that capacity Jahanara sees her role as providing legal advice in the context of her clients’ commercial requirements and expectations.
Jahanara’s work includes advising on procurement strategies and the form of contract to be utilised on projects, advising on risk profiles under contracts, drafting and negotiating agreements including large engineering and/or building contracts, consultants' appointments and associated agreements and interpreting contractual provisions. In addition to bespoke contracts, she has experience in a wide range of standard form contracts including NEC, MF, FIDIC, IChemE, JCT, ICE, ICC, PPC and Orgalime.

Experience
- Acting for the University of Central Lancashire in its £200m masterplan development. Work involved advising on construction procurement, construction matters in the contractor tender meetings, insurance, inter-relation of several projects in the same area as well as drafting and negotiating the construction agreements.
- Acting for Sci-Tech Daresbury in its £15m office and innovation development known as “Project Violet” on its campus. Work involved advising on construction matters in the contractor tender meetings and its grant funding requirements and drafting and negotiating the construction agreements.
- Acting for Property (Done) (a Salboy company) in connection with its £85m residential development along the Crescent Road in Salford. Work involved advising on funding requirements and drafting and negotiating the construction agreements.
- Acting for 86TR (a joint venture between CERT Property and Salboy) in connection with its residential development along in Stretford. Work involved advising on funding requirements and drafting and negotiating the construction agreements.
