Jason is a partner in the Financial Services Disputes and Investigations team, bringing a wealth of experience in consumer finance litigation and regulated recoveries, together with a specialist knowledge of all aspects of both personal and corporate insolvency.

Jason represents a wide range of finance houses, banks, insolvency practitioners, company directors and private individuals in respect of both litigation and insolvency matters. Jason qualified as a solicitor in 2007, becoming a partner in 2010 and has previously been a law firm location head of office before joining TLT in 2020.

He has worked closely with several large banks and finance houses to develop a bespoke recovery service that efficiently navigates the Northern Irish Court system in a manner that is best aligned to the particular client’s preferences and commercial priorities. 

Jason regularly advocates before the Bankruptcy Master, Chancery Judge and EJO Master as well as the County Court and High Court judges and, following an invite from the Court, has been directly involved in the discussions around proposed streamlining of the workings of the Enforcement of Judgments Office (EJO).

Experience

  • Acting for a Banking client in respect of an Article 236 application challenging the validity of a debtor’s IVA on the basis of material omission and unfair prejudice which resulted in the successful variation of the IVA to include the previously omitted assets and increasing the dividend pool for unsecured creditors.
  • Acting for the Administrator of J.M.C. Mechanical and Construction Limited which was one of the largest administrations to take place in Northern Ireland in 2021. Jason represented the Administrator in a variety of claims including contractual disputes with local Housing Associations, retention of title disputes and debt recovery.
  • Acting for a Bankrupt in the purchase of his 100 acre farm from his Trustee in Bankruptcy for circa £1M as an alternative to an Article 256(1)(b) annulment application.
