Paul provides advice and support on construction, infrastructure and defence projects and disputes, acting for clients ranging from public and private sector project owners to main contractors and consultants.

His contentious experience includes disputes relating to delay and disruption, payment and defects in fora including litigation, adjudication and mediation, as well as early-stage advisory and dispute avoidance support. He has acted as lead associate in successful adjudication proceedings for both referring and responding parties.

In a transactional context, Paul has experience drafting and negotiating contracts for significant infrastructure and defence projects. He also advises on issues such as the review, amendment and variation of contractual arrangements for a range of clients.

Paul brings several years' prior industry experience, and has particular expertise in NEC forms of contract.

Experience

  • Drafting frameworks and suites of NEC4-based works and services contracts for both major civil engineering works at a naval dockyard and maintenance of a national infrastructure portfolio.
  • Acting in a series of adjudications and disputes arising from delays, disruption and defects at a new-build facility.
  • Acting for a leading defence contractor in the negotiation of bilateral and multiparty contractual arrangements for a strategically significant defence project.
  • Advising clients on a variety of contentious issues including recourse for defective works, disputes as to final and interim accounts, and delay and disruption to projects.
