Ralph is a managing associate in the Projects, Infrastructure & Construction team at TLT.

He specialises in managing disputes and potential disputes. This includes prosecuting and defending claims if needs be, but also providing an advisory service to manage project risk and potential disputes before they materialise or escalate.

Ralph has a significant case history of resolving disputes in the public, future energy, and commercial building sectors, working for both main contractors and employers. This includes resolving issues as to quality and performance, payment, delay and disruption, extensions of time and prolongation costs, defective work and termination.

Ralph has acted as lead associate on disputes in the High Court, arbitration, mediation and adjudication and also has experience of cross border disputes and transactions.

Experience

  • A nuclear decommissioning project spanning several decades and with a budget of several billions, acting for the employer responsible for procuring and delivering the decommissioning project. Advising on a series of multi-million pound disputes and potential disputes, working closely with the client’s senior commercial and operational project team, as well as experts in several disciplines to ensure the best resolution for the client whilst preserving forward momentum on the project overall.
  • An international and very high-profile design and build project, acting for a central government department. Working very closely with the client team and technical experts to prosecute our client’s claims concerning defects and associated delay and prolongation costs, across four separate jurisdictions.
  • A new build design and build project for a tertiary education institution. Successfully defending the main contractor in adjudication against its M&E subcontractor, including issues of termination and repudiation.
  • A new build and refurbishment project for central government, concerning a cutting-edge scientific facility. Initially successfully defending our client in a series of adjudications, and then successfully leading the parties through an expert led settlement process, whilst also dealing with outstanding issues of quality, performance and defects.
  • A series of EPC solar farm projects, concerning technical disputes as to quality and performance. Working with a team of experts to prosecute the employer’s claims against the main contractor, as well as defending against counterclaims, in TCC High Court proceedings.
