Robin specialises in retail financial services regulation, with particular expertise in consumer credit, mortgages and payment services regulation.

Robin has extensive experience of advising on compliance and risk issues relating to mortgages, loans, credit cards, current accounts, savings and retail investment products including working with clients on new product development and digital transformation projects.

Robin has a particular specialism in mortgage law and regulation.  He often advises banks, building societies and specialist lenders on complex issues including regulatory permissions, new product development and mortgage conduct of business requirements.  Robin also reviews and drafts loan documentation for residential, buy-to-let and specialist mortgage products and alongside TLT’s Loan Portfolio Services team advises on the acquisition and disposal of mortgage portfolios.

Robin's experience includes working at the regulator and in industry, including having been Chief Compliance Officer of a UK challenger bank.

Robin regularly writes for the trade and industry press, including as author of a monthly Home Finance Column for PracticalLaw.

    • Advising several banks, building societies and specialist lenders on their LIBOR transition strategy for portfolios of residential and buy-to-let mortgages.
    • Drafting a full-suite of regulated residential mortgage loan documentation for a fintech lender entering the mortgage market.
    • Advising a specialist mortgage lender on development of a new mortgage product designed to support first-time buyers onto the property ladder, including drafting a suite of template loan documentation for the product.
    • Advising a bank on post-contractual notice requirements under the Consumer Credit Act 1974.
    • Completing a legal and regulatory review of secured and unsecured lending documentation for a specialist lender.
