Stuart specialises in advising on commercial contracts and related regulatory issues, covering a wide variety of procurement, supply and other commercial arrangements.

A particular area of focus for Stuart over the last 15 years has been contractual and regulatory advice on commercial arrangements around energy projects. Over this period he has been involved with hundreds of renewable energy projects (including wind, solar PV and hydro, biomass CHP and heat pumps)), projects relating to energy efficiency measures and, reflecting developments in the sector in recent years, battery storage projects and EV charging infrastructure projects.

Matters on which he has advised include those relating to power purchase and other route to market agreements (including dozens of private wire PPA arrangements), grid connection agreements (including grid sharing arrangements), government support schemes (including the FiT, ROC, RHI and Capacity Market schemes), electricity industry rules (including rules relating to supply licence exemptions) and agreements covering the installation and operation of EV charge points.
