Tom is a managing associate in TLT’s Technology and IP team.

He specialises in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, particularly in the technology and communications sectors, and has advised on numerous private-sector and public-sector procurements for bidders and customers. He also has substantial consumer law experience and has advised several foreign-based companies on their UK launches as well as advising startups on the early stages of their lifecycle.

Tom joined TLT from KPMG, where he provided legal services to clients but also occasionally acted as a commercial negotiator, interfacing between consultants and lawyers. His experience includes secondments to Barclays, Royal Mail and Amazon, advising on a number of key transactions in their lifecycle (including Royal Mail’s privatisation and shift to a multi-vendor IT services model). He also has significant experience of commercial transactions impacted by Ofcom, FCA and PRA regulation and has advised on several acquisitions of regulated companies. Tom was mentioned by Legal500 in 2022 as being notable in the field of outsourcing mandates.

  • acted for a major European supermarket on its multi-jurisdictional transformation of its telecoms services across all of its premises across Europe, including negotiating contracts with multiple suppliers for each lot of the procurement.

  • advised BC Technology Group, Asia’s leading digital asset company, on its agreement with the innovation and ventures unit of Standard Chartered to set up a digital asset brokerage and exchange platform for European clients

  • advised Amazon on the implications of the Dash Replenishment Service and requirements under consumer law

  • negotiated Adlens’s agreement with Oculus to develop specialist liquid lenses for virtual reality headsets

  • acted for adtech company Amobee on the negotiation of its agreement with ITV to launch the UK’s first advertising platform designed to manage programmatic premium video
