Tom is an associate in the firm’s corporate department, specialising in the future energy sector.

As part of the corporate future energy team, which was ranked second globally for renewables M&A deal activity by Clean Energy Pipeline, Tom advises on renewable energy projects across all main technologies including onshore and offshore wind, solar, battery storage and EV charging infrastructure. Tom has experience with a variety of clients, including developers, investment funds and financial institutions, in respect of acquisitions, disposals, corporate structuring and joint venture arrangements.

In addition to advising on the corporate aspects of renewable energy projects, Tom has previously worked within the specialised renewables teams in the real estate group and commercial services group during his time at TLT, which included advising on due diligence, government support schemes and matters related to power purchase and other route to market agreements.

Recent examples of Tom’s experience includes:

  • advising JBM and Susgen on the sale of JBM Solar, one of the UK’s largest independent solar and co-located battery developers, and its 6.1GW solar and battery portfolio to RWE;
  • advising JBM Solar on the disposal of a 102 MWp solar portfolio, with 65MWac of co-located battery storage, to Vantage RE;
  • advising One Planet on the disposal of a 90MW battery storage portfolio to Pulse Energy;
  • advising a leading investor on its joint development arrangements in relation to a portfolio of over 1GW of battery storage projects; and
  • advising on what is thought to be the first acquisition by a UK bank of a ready to build solar project.
