Tom has many years’ experience in loan portfolio transactions, restructuring and insolvency, having joined TLT in 2006.

Tom leads our loan portfolio transactions practice and is regarded as an expert in sales and acquisitions of both commercial and retail loan portfolios.  Tom has acted on a number of recent high profile portfolio transactions, including the acquisition of Fleet Mortgages by Starling Bank, the FSMA Part VII transfer of the UK business of Triodos Bank NV, the disposal of a £100m buy-to-let mortgage portfolio for a private bank and the acquisition of the economic interest in a £120m equity release portfolio via a total return swap.    

Tom also has a specialism in restructuring and non-contentious insolvency work and has a vast amount of experience in acting for insolvency office holders, lenders and acquirers of distressed businesses.  Tom has acted on many deals across different sectors, including the sale of the business and assets of Go Outdoors.

Tom’s technical ability and eye for detail have been described as unrivalled.  Tom has been recognised in Legal 500 as “…a details man. Knowledgeable, precise, personable and efficient”.  Tom brings calm, positivity and confidence to the most complex and time pressured matters.

Tom provides clients with an excellent service and sees issues from the client’s perspective, having undertaken a 12 month secondment with The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc.
