The firm of the year nomination recognises TLT’s role in a number of high profile transactions. This includes advising Boohoo on its acquisition of major retailers Debenhams, Burton, Dorothy Perkins and Wallis, its £197m fundraise and its £324m consolidation of ownership of PrettyLittleThing.
The Debenhams deal team was led by Alastair Lomax (restructuring and insolvency) with Alex Williamson and Stuart Campbell (commercial/IP), and the Arcadia acquisition team comprised over 50 lawyers and support staff and was led by Alastair and legal director Ainslie Benzie.
The Deal of the Year nominations recognise TLT’s role in the sale of John Morley to James Fleming and Space 48’s investment from Foresight Group.
The results underscore the strength of TLT’s corporate team in Manchester, which has experienced continued growth this year with the appointment of Andrew Clare as legal director, four solicitors and a legal assistant; and the promotion of Kelly Clarke to legal director and Sam Jones to associate.
In July 2021, TLT reported an 11% increase in turnover to hit £110m as it launched an ambitious new strategy to 2025 and in September, the corporate team won Deal of the Year and Small Deal of the Year at the South West Dealmakers Awards 2021.
Andrew Webber, partner and head of TLT’s national corporate team, says: “In what could have been an uncertain period due to continuing Brexit negotiations and the impact of the pandemic on investor confidence, we’ve been pleased to advise on some of the UK’s most high profile transactions.
“These nominations are a real testament to the corporate team’s unwavering commitment to client service and their leading reputation in the market.”
Ian Roberts, corporate partner based in Manchester at TLT, adds: “It is an honour to be nominated for one of the most prestigious corporate law awards in the North West as well as two deal awards.
“The North West has a vibrant economy and we’re determined to keep playing our role in helping clients unlock future growth opportunities in the region.”
The winners will be announced on 28 October 2021.
