Law firm TLT has boosted its national future energy practice, welcoming back real estate expert Nick Shenken as partner.

Nick first joined TLT from Pinsent Masons in 2018 and has been re-appointed following a year working as group legal and operations director at The Bureau Group focusing on the circular economy.

He has specialised in the clean energy sector for the last twenty years, advising a range of clients across the public and private sector in the whole of the UK. Nick has particular expertise in renewable energy projects (from onshore wind and offshore wind to solar, battery storage, EV, biomass and marine power) acting for developers, funders and investors on all aspects of project development through to exit.

Boasting in-depth knowledge and understanding of the energy and real estate sectors, Nick is uniquely placed in the market to provide property, commercial, contractual and structuring advice to energy clients.

Nick will be based at the firm’s Glasgow office, working closely with the national future energy and real estate teams, further expanding the breadth of service the firm offers clients in these areas.

The news follows a number of key strategic hires in TLT’s future energy team including the appointment of three new future energy partners - David Miller (real estate), Michael Kruger (banking & finance) and Juliet Stradling (regulatory).

Maria Connolly, head of future energy and real estate at TLT commented: “TLT has become a go-to advisor for the top players in the energy space working with some of the most forward-thinking and innovative businesses in this space. In the last few years, we have continued to invest in our capabilities in the future energy team to ensure we’re providing a best-in-class service to our clients. Nick is a well-respected lawyer in his field, with unrivalled experience across a wide variety of energy projects. We’re delighted to be welcoming him back to the team."

Commenting on his appointment, Nick said:It’s always been a privilege to work in the future energy space and I’m looking forward to re-connecting with colleagues and clients old and new, to support the growth and development of TLT’s national future energy practice.”
