National law firm TLT’s head of public inquiries and public law (PIPL), Zaqia Rashid, has been featured in The Lawyer’s prestigious Hot 100 list 2024.

The Lawyer Hot 100 list features the most daring, innovative and creative lawyers from in-house, private practice and the Bar.

The Lawyer recognised Zaqia’s extraordinary success in building TLT’s PIPL team into a dominant force and with over 170 members. She is playing a pivotal role in major UK inquiries such as the Undercover Policing Inquiry, the Covid-19 Inquiry and the Post Office Inquiry (providing legal assistance to Sir Wyn Williams), the Infected Blood Inquiry. She has also expanded the practice into national security matters. This was achieved within a remarkably short timeframe.

The Lawyer also pointed to Zaqia’s leadership approach, focused on championing ED&I and ensuring a culture where people feel able to bring their whole selves to work.

Zaqia joined TLT in November 2021 to set up and lead the firm’s new public law and public inquiries team, in response to growing client demand. Zaqia specialises in public law and litigation and has acted on some of the most high-profile inquiries and civil litigation proceedings in the UK, including handling contempt of court work for the Attorney General and advising on some of the most high-profile national security matters being litigated before the UK courts.

Commenting on her inclusion in the list Zaqia said: I am extremely flattered to have been included in The Lawyer Hot 100 list for 2024. It’s an honour to have been recognised alongside so many other talented legal professionals from across the industry whom I admire. Above all I am grateful for the hard work and dedication our TLT team invests into providing the best legal support possible to our clients. The high quality of the service that we provide to our clients is the foundation on which any of our success is built on.”

The news follows the announcement that Zaqia has been shortlisted for the Legal Leader of the Year Award at the Women, Influence & Power in Law (WIPL) UK Awards 2024.
