National law firm TLT has advised leading independent waste company, Sortera, on the acquisition of Reston Waste, in a deal which makes Sortera the largest independent construction waste company across Greater London.
Sortera is one of the most prominent construction waste and collection companies in Northern Europe. This new acquisition extends Sortera’s footprint into South West London, enabling customers to benefit from an expanded service area, enhanced efficiencies and improved response times, serving projects from residential to large commercial developments.
TLT advised on all legal aspects of the acquisition. The team was led by corporate partner James Webb and managing associate Yervand Agobiani, supported by Kirsty Wilson and David James. The deal also required cross-sector expertise from Edward Pitt, Rebecca Morrell and Michelle Leech in the real estate team; John Arthur in the planning team; Oliver Sargent in the employment team; and William Ngan and Chloe Jodkowski in the tax team.
Mark McCleery, Managing Director at Sortera UK, said: “We really enjoyed working with the TLT team on this important project. The firm’s full-service offering and James and Yervand’s industry experience were invaluable in helping get the deal over the line. This allows us to continue our journey of creating the largest construction waste recycling company with a focus on service, quality and sustainability.”
Corporate partner James Webb commented: “We’re delighted to have supported Sortera on this strategic acquisition, which enables the business to complement its current operations in North and Central London with Reston’s South London presence and focus. We’re aware that waste management businesses are under pressure to demonstrate and enhance their sustainability credentials, and we’re grateful to have played a part in Sortera’s growth plans and ambition to drive the transition to a more circular construction waste economy across Northern Europe. We’re excited to see such plans and ambition come to fruition in the future.”
