The network was launched in 2023, with backing from the Mayor of London, and is made up of an expert panel providing access to professional consultants with a track record of working with local authorities. The aim of CLHN is to develop knowledge sharing, peer support and access to professional expertise with the purpose of helping councils maintain their housing development pipeline at a time of increased demand and financial pressures.
TLT has been appointed to provide legal guidance and advice on all aspects of planning, development and construction. Others on the panel include BPTW for architecture and urban design, Potter Raper for construction management and Red loft for development managements, sales & marketing and viability.
David Meecham, partner and head of housing and regeneration at TLT commented: “Councils are facing a raft of budget pressures, which are affecting the resources and capital required to build new homes in London. We are delighted to have been named the legal expert panel member for Future of London’s new Council-Led Housing Network, helping to combat the city’s growing housing crisis.
“Borne from our experience working with public sector organisation, we have the knowledge and expertise required to advise councils on all aspects of planning, development and construction. This is an exciting time to be part of this inspiring initiative.”
Nicola Mathers, chief executive of Future of London, said “We know that London local authorities are on a financial knife edge, so Future of London is delighted to be able to offer free support for their vital housebuilding programmes. The expert panel builds on our skills development work with in-house teams to help them tackle the affordable housing crisis in London.”
