UK law firm TLT was commended for two awards at the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards Europe 2022, held last night at the Natural History Museum in London. The prestigious awards recognise innovation in a wide variety of areas such as sustainability, diversity and digital transformation. The event was attended by law firms, in-house legal teams and legal service providers from across Europe.

TLT was commended in the people in management category for its outstanding achievements in launching a new fully flexible approach to working, which has significantly supported the firm in improving health and wellbeing, as well as diversity and inclusivity across the organisation. The firm was also commended for the sustainable business of law award for leading the industry in terms of progressive sustainability initiatives.

Maria Connolly, head of real estate and future energy and executive board member responsible for TLT’s environmental sustainability strategy, said: “Sustainability is a core part of our strategy and at the heart of everything we do at TLT. In 2021, we launched a robust ESG strategy aimed at encouraging our employees to reduce their carbon emissions and which outlined ambitious net zero targets. In the last twelve months, we’ve achieved some outstanding results bringing us one step closer to achieving our goals. These have included, but aren’t limited to, having our commitment to achieving net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2040 verified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

“Our sustainability journey has been a firmwide effort from day one and we will continue to work at every level to do everything we can to achieve our targets. This is why it’s an honour to have our commitments recognised on a national platform and to have been commended at the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards Europe 2022.”

Helen Hodgkinson, chief people officer commented: “We’re always looking for new and innovative ways to help our clients meet their objectives and we know this starts with our own people. We’re delighted to have been commended in two categories at the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards Europe. Being commended is a recognition of our commitments to finding solutions, in the areas of people management and sustainability, which will contribute towards creating a working environment where our people and clients can succeed.”
