The Legal 500’s Green Guide is the first worldwide guide to recognise the top law firms advising on issues around climate change, governance and sustainability. The guide aims to provide a holistic view of firms’ engagement with sustainability. Firms are selected based on their recent work on sustainability-related mandates, internal sustainability-related initiatives and information about the team and individual lawyers’ engagement with sustainability.
TLT was featured in the guide in recognition of its ongoing commitments and achievements to put people, planet and communities first. In the last twelve months, the firm’s globally recognised future energy team has advised on innovative future energy projects, including advising Enso Energy on the sale of the UK’s largest ready-to-build co-located solar and battery project portfolio; advising renewable energy business Innova Renewables on a strategic partnership with funds managed by Schroders Greencoat LLP; and advising JBM Solar on the sale of a 102 MWP solar portfolio with 65MW AC of co-located battery storage to Vantage RE. The future energy team’s successes have resulted in TLT being ranked second in Clean Energy Pipeline’s 2023 Clean Energy Legal League Table, which ranks the world’s top 20 law firms that acted as a legal adviser on clean energy project finance and M&A deals in 2022.

TLT’s commitment to sustainability is also evidenced by the recent move to Cadworks in Glasgow – Scotland’s most sustainable office development – as well as announcing it has signed a lease to take the top two floors at Eden, one of the UK’s most sustainable office buildings, for its new home in Manchester.
Maria Connolly, partner and head of future energy and real estate at TLT commented: “TLT is a global adviser to the future energy sector and sustainability is a core part of who we are as a firm. As evidenced in our profile on the Legal 500 Green Guide Hub, we have an ambitious approach to environmental sustainability and will continue to drive sustainable practice, in collaboration with colleagues, clients, local communities and our partner organisations.”
