The annual awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding work of lawyers, law firms and in-house legal teams.
TLT’s FutureLaw team was recognised in this category for the support provided for longstanding client Biffa when the government’s good work legislation came into force. The legislation meant that all UK employees were entitled to a full statement of employment details from their first day in the post – rather than within a two-month period. Dave Maton, managing associate in TLT’s employment team, and the FutureLaw team implemented the firm’s Intelligent Drafting solution to deliver an automated suite of tailor-made documents for the client, compliant with the new legislation. Using best in class automation software, the team reduced drafting time significantly while ensuring the technology solution could handle high levels of variability and conditionality.
TLT is changing the future of law with its innovative approach built on insight, process and technology to meet the changing needs of clients and drive impactful results. The FutureLaw team is a multi-disciplinary group of specialists, including lawyers, process designers, technologists, knowledge management experts, data analysts, product and project managers and other professionals. Their role is to design, develop and deliver new solutions to clients, working alongside subject matter experts across legal and business services teams.
James Touzel, head of digital and FutureLaw said:
“We believe that technology is one of the key drivers when embracing a digital future – enabling change rather than representing change in and of itself. These types of projects, such as the one we worked on for Biffa, shows that collaboration is crucial. Law firms need to act as trusted advisers and find the right solutions to fit their needs.
“We’re delighted to have been highly commended for the most innovative use of technology award at the Lawyer Awards. This is a true recognition of TLT’s forward-thinking approach and commitment to be one step ahead of clients and to support them for what comes next. I’m extremely proud of the achievements, hard work and dedication of the team and look forward to continuing our development of further innovative solutions for our clients”.
TLT was also nominated for the best talent and inclusion award for the launch of the firm’s fully flexible working approach – TLT World – in June 2021.
The event, hosted by comedian Jason Manford, saw 27 organisations and individuals win top prizes across all categories.
