National law firm TLT has joined the Flexible & Family Friendly Working All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) as sponsor, as part of its commitment to drive positive change in workplace practices.

The APPG was launched in the House of Commons on 6 February 2024. The APPG will focus on championing flexible working policies that support families across the country to remove the barriers that people with caring responsibilities face in the workplace.

TLT joins as sponsor alongside other leading organisations including Save the Children, Zurich, Wates and SF Recruitment. As part of the collaboration, TLT will contribute valuable insights and resources to support APPG’s mission.

The collaboration forms part of TLT’s strategy to 2025, which is underpinned by a progressive and market-leading workplace agenda including a flexible working approach introduced in 2021 - TLT World. Providing people with more choice so employees can work at a place and time that suits them, their clients and their role, TLT World has strengthened TLT’s position as one of the most progressive law firms in the country. The approach has contributed, in part, to improving diversity and inclusivity resulting in TLT achieving 33% female partner representation two years ahead of its 2025 target.

Jane van Zyl, CEO at Working Families said, "We believe that flexible working is not just a benefit but a necessity for the modern workforce. This APPG will play a pivotal role in advocating for policies that empower families, support a better work-life balance, and contribute to a more inclusive and productive society."

Helen Hodgkinson, chief people officer at TLT commented: “Flexible working is at the core of inclusivity. As a passionate supporter and advocate of new ways of working for business, we are delighted to be involved in sharing best practice in terms of adopting flexible working models, which we believe are central to efforts geared towards improving diversity and inclusivity at work. We are looking forward to sponsoring the APPG on flexible working and playing a part in supporting the successful implementation of new flexible working legislation, making it easier for employees to access flexible working opportunities.”
