Law firm TLT has introduced a new diversity access programme aimed at eliminating barriers to entry into the legal profession for aspiring ethnic minority lawyers and improving diversity in early careers.
The unique new programme has been introduced a year on from the firm setting a new ethnic diversity target of 35% ethnic minority representation across its early career roles (trainees and apprentices) to be achieved by October 2030.
Successful candidates will be matched with a professional mentor who will help with the key preparatory stage ahead of their placement and provide ongoing support all the way through the programme, up to being considered for a permanent role. The scheme will also give students from ethnically diverse backgrounds the opportunity to develop their soft skills and take part in a series of workshops to build their knowledge of working in the legal sector.
Details:
The two-week programme will take place in Bristol, Manchester and Scotland.
Applications will open on 1 October 2024 and close on 10 January 2025.

Andrew Webber, partner and early careers champion at TLT said: “TLT is committed to removing barriers to entry into the legal profession for aspiring lawyers. The Beyond programme has been designed to intervene earlier and fill a gap to equip diverse talent with the skills required to succeed at all stages of the recruitment process and long into their career. We look forward to welcoming our first cohort to the business in early 2025.”
