National law firm TLT has hired commercial real estate lawyer Neal Bhattacharyya as a partner in its London office, adding to the firm’s capabilities across property investment, real estate development, asset management and insolvency-related real estate matters.

Neal will be based in TLT’s London office. Neal’s appointment comes after a time of expansion for TLT’s real estate practice, marking the addition of a second partner following Colin Brown’s appointment in May.

Neal has joined from DWF, where he was an integral part of the firm’s real estate, private equity and venture capital offerings. Neal brings a wealth of expertise advising C-suite executives, general counsel and leadership teams on complex real estate transactions and strategic asset management – including investment, development, landlord and tenant, distressed real estate, venture capital and private equity.

Neal has worked with some of the UK’s largest and most well-known institutional investors and corporate occupiers, as well as developers and international investors in the UK market.

Neal is also experienced in specialised markets such as purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), industrial and logistics.

His appointment marks a strategic addition to TLT’s real estate practice, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to delivering top-tier legal advice across the real estate sector. Neal’s industry insight and understanding of the UK real estate market will be central to supporting TLT’s continued growth and innovation in real estate.

Andy Bell, Partner at TLT commented: “Neal’s expertise and commercial insight will be invaluable as we continue to grow our offering and help clients navigate an increasingly dynamic market. We have seen a steady increase in demand from clients for strategic support in complex real estate matters. Neal’s appointment is a direct response to that demand. We’re excited about the value he will bring to our growing practice.”

Neal Bhattacharyya, Partner at TLT added: "TLT’s reputation, collaborative culture and client-centric approach make it a great fit. I’m excited to be joining the team at a time where the real estate market has shown considerable resilience and demand for real estate advice is on the rise. I look forward to continuing the growth of TLT’s real estate practice and supporting clients on the opportunities and challenges ahead.”

Neal’s appointment continues the growth of TLT’s real estate practice, following the appointments of Colin Brown in May and Kay Desai in January.
