TLT was recognised in two categories at the Bristol Law Society Awards 2023 – the annual awards celebrating the talent and achievements of the legal community in Bristol and its surrounding areas.
Corporate future energy partner Kay Hobbs was crowned Lawyer of the Year for the role she has played in positioning TLT as a global leader in the future energy sector. Since becoming the first dedicated corporate future energy lawyer at TLT in 2014, she has advised on some of the most significant future energy transactions in the UK. Recently, Kay led a team supporting JBM and Susgen on the sale of JBM Solar and its 6.1 GW solar and battery portfolio to RWE – the largest solar and battery portfolio disposal in UK history.
Andrew Glynn, former senior partner and corporate development & investment partner was awarded the President’s Outstanding Achievement Award for his contributions as a trusted legal adviser over a career spanning five decades. Before becoming senior partner, Andrew grew and led TLT’s real estate group for more than 15 years. He was a catalyst in scaling the business from its Bristol and Southwest roots to an integrated nationwide service, enabling clients to thrive as the built environment evolves. Andrew was also awarded for his achievements, which transcend his chosen legal expertise. In 2020, Andrew oversaw the critically important transition process involving David Pester handing over the reins of managing partner to John Wood. He has also played an instrumental role in advancing some of TLT’s market-leading people and sustainability initiatives, which have contributed to the firm being ranked in The Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality in 2023 and to TLT winning the Lloyds Bank Sustainable Business of the Year Award at the Edie Awards 2023.
Sasha Butterworth, senior partner at TLT said: “Both Andrew and Kay’s expertise and experience have been recognised on both a regional and nationwide basis. We’re proud to see their respective achievements reflected in their awards at this year’s Bristol Law Society Awards, and congratulations to other teams and individuals who were shortlisted.”
The awards ceremony, which was attended by some of the most talented legal professionals in the region, recognise the achievements and excellence of law firms, in-house legal teams and others working in the Southwest. It’s an opportunity to acknowledge the Southwest as a centre of excellence when it comes to the practice of law.
