National law firm TLT has been shortlisted in four categories at the European Legal Innovation and Technology Awards – for Client Management Innovation; Regulatory Governance and Compliance; and Outstanding Collaboration alongside Ultimate Finance. Legal Technologist Marco Mendola has also been shortlisted for the Innovation Trailblazer Award.

Now in their 11th year, the annual Law.com awards celebrate trailblazers who are transforming the legal sector through innovation and technology.

Recognition in the Regulatory Governance and Compliance category followed the firm’s work with a leading FTSE 250 business. TLT’s award-winning FutureLaw team successfully utilised intelligent technology to help the client complete a significant and complex intragroup remediation project involving a large number of documents, multiple signatories, territories, and deadlines.

The team was also picked out in the Outstanding Collaboration category for its exemplary work alongside Ultimate Finance. This collaboration involved developing and implementing a bespoke matter management system utilising Ultimate Finance’s existing legal technology. The client’s legal team uses the solution to provide a better service to the business, manage workflow, instruct external advisers and gain data driven insights for real estate finance deals.

Following a strategic training programme to the in-house team of long-term client, Vodafone, the FutureLaw team was also recognised in the Client Management Innovation category. The initiative enhanced programme and project management within Vodafone’s legal and business integrity team, embedding project management best practices and cultivating a community dedicated to innovation and ensuring strategic goals were met.

Marco Mendola, a legal technologist in the FutureLaw team has been singled out for his exemplary work in implementing innovative legal tech products for clients. He is a particular specialist in providing training, interactive workshops, and cultivating communities driven by a shared purpose. His work emphasises the importance of client-centricity and design thinking, using collaboration to foster legal innovation.

James Touzel, partner and head of FutureLaw at TLT, said: “These nominations continue a trend of success for FutureLaw over the past twelve months, following recognition as the Legal Technology Team of the Year 2024 (Legal Business). As the legal and technological landscapes continue to develop rapidly, we expect further busy years ahead as we continue to prepare our clients for what comes next. This latest round of nominations establishes TLT as one of the most innovative firms in Europe. A huge congratulations to the entire team for this well-deserved recognition.
