TLT continues to expand its UK-wide corporate team with the appointment of corporate technology specialist Adam Kuan as partner in the firm’s London office.

Adam joins from Deloitte Legal where he became legal director in 2021, having previously held positions at Kemp Little LLP and Herbert Smith Freehills. Adam brings over a decade of experience in corporate transactions with a particular focus in advising technology or tech-enabled businesses.

Specialising in advising a wide range of businesses in the technology sector – including fintechs, start-ups, fast-growth companies, investors and large national and international organisations – Adam brings in-depth knowledge and understanding of the sector, which will be instrumental in supporting the growth of TLT’s digital team. The appointment also adds to TLT’s national offering in the fast-growth sector and Adam will be working closely with the national team, led by Nina Searle, to help develop and implement the firm’s strategic vision in this area.

Adam will advise clients on lower/mid-market M&A and private equity transactions, debt/equity fundraisings and other corporate matters. Adam has broad and deep expertise advising corporates, funds, founders and management teams on transactions across all verticals of technology, including IT services, b2b software, HCM, cyber-security, digital media, AI/data, business information, ed-tech, fintech and healthcare/healthtech. Adam’s recent experience includes advising:

  • a European mid-market private equity fund on an investment into a fast-growing consumer surveys business (with an AI-powered tech-platform);
  • the management team of a PE-backed b2b software business on a private equity investment by a global technology-focussed PE fund;
  • the founders of an innovative b2b software business on its merger with a US PE-backed acquirer;
  • an award-winning, venture-backed fintech business on fundraising transactions and a corporate acquisition;
  • a listed US video hosting, sharing and services platform provider on the strategic acquisition of a venture capital-backed, award-winning interactive video business; and
  • an innovative early-stage data-science business on venture capital funding rounds and various other corporate matters.

Andrew Webber, partner and head of TLT’s corporate team said: “We’re very pleased to be welcoming Adam after what has been an extremely busy year for the corporate team at TLT. Adam brings specialist experience advising businesses in the tech world on a wide variety of corporate matters and has a track record of building strong and lasting relationships with clients. Not only will he be an extremely valuable player in our corporate team, he will also be providing significant guidance and support to our digital sector team, strengthening the level of service we provide to clients in this area.

“In line with TLT’s ambitions to deliver outstanding results for clients, and to prepare them for what comes next, we’ve continued to invest heavily in our corporate team throughout the year. Adam joins a number of new recruits, including corporate partner Philip Barratt who joined TLT at the start of the year. We’re looking forward to further recruitment in the coming year to support our clients during what will likely be another busy period.”

Adam said: “I’m delighted to join TLT’s corporate team during what is a very exciting period of growth for the firm. The rapid expansion of the technology sector in the UK means there are significant opportunities for the firm to develop its practice in this area. As well as implementing result-driven strategies to support the growth of TLT’s specialism in tech, I’m also looking forward to developing strong relationships with the firm’s clients and helping to build out the corporate team’s presence in the London office.”
