National law firm TLT has appointed partners James Chadwick and Gareth Oldale to lead the firm’s growth in Manchester and London respectively.

James and Gareth will succeed partners Graeme Orchison and Andrew Lyon who have stepped away from their positions in Manchester and London respectively.

James has been at TLT since the firm opened its doors in Manchester in 2013, joining as an associate in the UK-wide financial services litigation and contentious financial regulation team, before being promoted to partner in 2015. Gareth joined TLT in 2019 to lead the firm’s national data, privacy and cybersecurity team, supporting clients across the private and public sector with the core of his work focused on technology projects. He also specialises in data protection, privacy and information law matters, having advised in this area throughout his legal career.

TLT has ambitious growth plans for London and Manchester for the next year, which will feed into the firm’s plans to enhance its national footprint. This will include further development of existing client relationships, targeting new business in the UK, and increasing its headcount.

Gareth and James will lead the next chapter of the firm’s expansion in London and Manchester, building on its significant experience across its seven key sectors including financial services; future energy; retail and consumer goods; government and public services; digital; real estate; and leisure, food and drink.

The new leadership follows a busy period of growth for TLT, including the expansion of the firm into the Midlands with the opening of its new office in Birmingham and a number of new senior hires across its sectors and service including financial services regulation expert Amanda Hulme, financial services litigation heavyweight Roger Potgieter and project finance clean energy specialist Victoria Quek.

Graeme Orchison and Andrew Lyon will remain at TLT and continue to play a key role in the development of the firm’s national offering.

John Wood, managing partner at TLT said: “We have seen phenomenal growth across our offices in London and Manchester in the last ten years, supporting our national vision of growth and cementing our position as a leading UK law firm. Those achievements have been led by Graeme and Andrew, who have built and developed outstanding teams in London and Manchester, delivering the best outcome for clients.

“Substantial and rapid development of our offering across our network of offices is a key strategic objective for the business, feeding into our national strategy and supporting the expansion of our services across all our sectors. I’m pleased to have James and Gareth’s commercial and strategic awareness leading our teams in Manchester and London for our next stage of growth.”
