We hosted a live webinar in which Shazia Bashir, housing and regeneration partner and Louise Wilson from Abundance Investment discussed the role that innovative green and social funding can play in delivering affordable homes that also look after the planet.
The UK’s journey to Net Zero has focused attention on the need to build sustainable housing which is energy efficient, supported by green infrastructure and powered by renewable energy. But this comes at a time when the UK is already in the middle of a housing crisis which has also highlighted the lack of affordable housing.
How do you balance the creation of sustainable affordable housing? A focus on green finance and sustainability linked lending is paving the way for alternative funding models and providing access to cheaper sources of capital to support sustainable housing developments.
Could this provide the solution?
Louise shared her experience of funding pioneering affordable housing projects including what makes a scheme attractive for green and social funding, overcoming the challenges and obstacles and the future of the market in the medium and long term.
