Award-winning law firm TLT has doubled the size of its Birmingham office on Chamberlain Square after a year of unprecedented growth. September 2024 marks one year since TLT opened its first office in Birmingham with a full-service offering for clients.
In the last twelve months, the firm has experienced rapid growth in Birmingham across all sectors and service lines including commercial, litigation, corporate, employment, real estate and financial services, increasing its overall headcount from 3 colleagues in 2023 to 35 colleagues in September 2024.
The size of the Birmingham office has doubled to accommodate the unprecedented increase in employees, offering 50% more desk space, as well as additional spaces to connect and collaborate with colleagues and clients.
The growth of the firm’s full-service offering has been supported by the recruitment of a raft of leading lawyers. These have included: partners Roy Grist (banking), Charlie Rae (employment), Jacob Cork (private wealth) and Lorna Tipple (family law), alongside legal directors Rebekah Finch (commercial dispute resolution), Amanda Wootton and Julie Peel (financial services disputes investigations), Leanne Fryer (corporate) and Claire Gamage (commercial).
Mark Elder, partner and head of location in Birmingham commented: “TLT has been setting the pace for legal services in Birmingham and we will not be stopping here. The growth of the team and our office space signals our continued investment in Birmingham – a city that is a hub for business and innovation. The additional space to connect and collaborate has created the perfect environment for our people and clients as we continue our expansion strategy.
“The speed at which our headcount is increasing, and the interest people are showing in us, is a testament to the impact we are having in the market and the role Birmingham is playing in TLT’s national growth strategy. There are still huge opportunities for the firm to cement its footprint in Birmingham and we continue to look for skilled lawyers to help us expand our offering across our skilled service lines and seven core sectors – future energy; real estate; leisure, food and drink; government and public services; digital and financial services."
TLT opened its first office in Birmingham in September 2023 – the firm’s seventh office across the UK joining those in Manchester, Belfast, London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Bristol – as part of strategic plans to widen the firm’s national footprint and enhance the level of service it offers clients in the Midlands.
The news comes shortly after TLT revealed record national growth with annual revenue up to £174m from £157m in 2022/2023 and an increase in headcount to over 1,700 colleagues including 13 new partners, further strengthening the breadth and depth of its offering across its focus sectors.
