The prevention of illegal working
  • Employers can face fines of up to £60,000 per illegal worker, as well as possible criminal liability and sponsor licence revocation in the most serious cases. We regularly provide advice on the Home Office's requirements around right-to-work checks, helping clients mitigate the risk of penalties.

We are well placed to advise employers on the process to follow in such circumstances, including the possibility of termination of employment in appropriate circumstances.

If the business holds a sponsor licence, are you aware of your time-critical duties to UK Visas and Immigration? Buying: If the business is licensed, does the acquisition mean a new licence will be needed? Are you comfortable the employees in that business have the right to work and bring no unnecessary exposure to penalties? We can support on any necessary due diligence and subsequent advice.
