TLT enhances pension expertise with the addition of a new partner and associate

National law firm TLT has appointed former head of pensions at Mills & Reeve, Clare Grice, as partner. Clare will be joining the firm's Birmingham office alongside senior associate, Fiona Goodman.

Clare brings over 20 years of experience advising pensions clients, with expertise in public sector pensions, strengthening the breadth and depth of TLT’s national pensions team.

Clare’s practice includes advising trustees of occupational pension schemes (Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution schemes) and employers on their pension arrangements, with a particular niche in education.

Clare is regarded as one of the UK’s foremost pension lawyers and has built a reputation providing a best-in-class service to clients throughout the pensions community, resulting in her being recognised as “very capable and knowledgeable” by Legal 500.

Clare joins TLT alongside senior associate, Fiona Goodman, who has over 10 years’ experience advising leading businesses and pension scheme trustees.

At TLT, Clare and Fiona will work closely with the national pensions team, supporting clients across its financial services and government and public services sectors, to continue growing its leading national practice.

Partner and head of pensions at TLT, Sasha Butterworth said: ‚ÄúClare is a well-regarded and proven pensions lawyer with experience that will be hugely beneficial to our practice. A growing number of our clients across our sectors will require additional support as they navigate the government‚Äôs overhaul of the pensions landscape. Clare‚Äôs expertise will be invaluable over the coming months and beyond ‚Äì we are delighted to welcome her to the team.

“Clare also expands the footprint of our national team, which is now represented in Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester, continuing our growth as a truly national team.”

Clare Grice added: ‚Äú2025 is another big year for pensions, as the government has declared its intention to ‚Äúunlock billions‚Äù of investments from ‚Äúwell-funded‚Äù DB schemes‚Äô surpluses and consolidate the fragmented pensions landscapes.

"Clients will need support and advice as more details of the government’s plans emerge over the coming year, and I am excited to be joining TLT and supporting clients for what comes next.”
