UK law firm TLT has taken home the top prize in the best environmental initiative category at the People in Law Awards 2022.

The awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of firms in the UK legal sector that are leading the way when it comes to people management. They also recognise the dedication of those colleagues who are working hard to create more inclusive, diverse, equal, and healthier workforces.

TLT was recognised for its dedication to sustainability and ambitions to become carbon neutral by 2025, which is being supported by a variety of firm-wide programmes and initiatives. The firm was coined ‘outstanding’ in this category cementing TLT’s position as a leader in sustainability.

Sustainability is a core part of TLT’s approach and forms part of the firm’s offering for clients and contacts so that its activity can deliver progressive economic, environmental and social outcomes.

In 2021, TLT launched a formal sustainability strategy, which included the establishment of a dedicated sustainability team, aimed at increasing internal engagement with emission cutting initiatives and further contributing to TLT achieving its environmental goals.

TLT was also shortlisted in the following categories:

  • Excellence in equality and inclusion

  • Best people leader

The shortlisting in these categories took into consideration TLT’s forward-thinking and progressive approach to work reflected in people focused initiatives such as TLT World and recent changes to family leave, as well as the launch of a long-term and robust ED&I strategy.

Helen Hodgkinson, chief people officer at TLT said:

“Winning this award is a significant win for our sustainability team. And further, being shortlisted for the excellence in equality and inclusion award is amazing recognition of the efforts the team and the firm is putting into this space. The work we do in both areas is truly remarkable and this just goes to show that others think it too. I’m incredibly proud that as a firm, we are prioritising the things that matter to both employees and our clients.”
