TLT grows Projects, Infrastructure and Construction team with strategic partner hire
UK law firm TLT has hired Nuala Maguire as partner in its national Projects, Infrastructure and Construction (PIC) team in response to growing client demand for strategic legal support on construction and infrastructure projects. Nuala will be based in the firm’s Belfast office, where she will play a key role in supporting TLT's national expansion, whilst also enhancing the firm’s offering in Northern Ireland.
Nuala has joined TLT from Eversheds Sutherland Northern Ireland, where she was a partner in the Construction and Projects team. Nuala brings over 14 years of experience advising clients in both the public and private sectors on all aspects of construction law. Her practice focuses on providing advice throughout the life cycle of construction and infrastructure projects, from procurement and contract negotiation to dispute avoidance and resolution.
Nuala’s extensive experience includes advising developers, contractors, consultants, funders and public bodies. Her focus areas include commercial developments, project finance, energy, infrastructure and healthcare projects. In the future energy sector, Nuala has advised on a wide range of solar and battery farm developments and has acted for developers on data centres in Ireland, France, Spain and Germany.
In addition to her professional achievements, Nuala is also the Chair of Women in Property Northern Ireland and has worked closely with the Federation of Master Builders, adapting contracts for the Northern Ireland market and delivering seminars on legislative changes.
Nuala’s appointment underscores TLT’s ongoing commitment to investing in its construction and infrastructure capabilities, building on recent senior hires including Katherine Doran, Michael Bennett, Madi Dacey and Alex Murdie.
It also demonstrates the firm’s ongoing commitment to regional growth, while leveraging national expertise to support local clients. Nuala will work closely with new partner Jonathan O’Hagan in the Real Estate team, creating synergies across real estate and project finance, supporting TLT’s expanding service offering in Northern Ireland.
Simon Goss, Partner and Head of Projects, Infrastructure and Construction at TLT said: “TLT is advising at the heart of infrastructure projects and investment in transport, defence, communications and energy across the UK. Nuala’s appointment strengthens our geographic reach and our sector expertise in critical infrastructure and development particularly in relation to data centre development, a subject very much in the news following the announcement of a multi-billion pound investment in the UK as an AI superpower.
“Nuala’s experience and deep understanding of the sector will be invaluable as we continue to expand our service and support our clients’ growing needs. We’re delighted to welcome Nuala to our team.”
Nuala Maguire, Partner at TLT commented: “This is a dynamic time for the construction and infrastructure sectors. The industry is experiencing significant shifts with a growing emphasis on sustainability, innovative technologies and resilient infrastructure. I look forward to leveraging my experience to help TLT’s clients navigate challenges and opportunities ahead, preparing them for what comes next.”
