TLT places in The Times Top 50 for Gender Equality list for fourth consecutive year
UK national law firm TLT has retained its position among the UK’s top 50 employers for gender equality for the fourth consecutive year, recognising the sustained and decisive action the firm has taken in addressing gender inequalities at all levels.
The Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality is run by Business in the Community (BITC), The King’s Responsible Business Network. Now in its fifteenth year, it is the UK’s most highly profiled and well-established list of employers taking action and making gender equality part of their business strategy at all levels.
In recent years, TLT has consolidated its position as a trailblazer in progressive, gender inclusive employment practices, including through:
- Committing to a variety of benefits improvements, including introducing day-one enhanced neonatal care leave, going beyond statutory requirements to provide fully paid leave for unexpected life events, and expanding parental and carers support.
These policies are intended to support the firm in retaining and advancing its people across all roles and levels within the firm. Having achieved 33% female representation at partner level two years ahead of target, such initiatives with a deliberate focus on women’s health and wellbeing support progress towards the firm's increased ambition of achieving 50% female representation at partner level by 2029.
TLT’s forward-thinking gender strategy prioritises: redefining leadership with gender inclusion at its core; expanding flexible working; increasing female representation; and creating a respectful culture. The strategy was introduced in 2019 in collaboration with the firm’s Women’s Equality Network - one of TLT’s founding employee networks that aims to empower women to achieve their full potential and to drive gender diversity at all levels across the firm.
The firm’s achievements against its targets are underpinned by robust governance led by a taskforce that monitors progress of gender diversity and ensures its aims are communicated firmwide. Progress also continues to be supported by the Women’s Equality Network which reinforces key gender equality themes and topics including health and wellbeing, caring and progression.
Helen Hodgkinson, Chief People Officer at TLT, commented: “We’re incredibly proud to feature in The Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality for the fourth consecutive year. This recognition reflects the sustained effort across our firm to create an environment where everyone can thrive, and where gender equality is embedded in how we lead, support and develop our people.
“Over the past year, we’ve taken further meaningful steps, strengthening family‑friendly policies and building partnerships that advance women’s health and wellbeing at work, but we’re clear that our work does not stop here.
“Achieving true gender equality requires ongoing focus, accountability and a willingness to keep evolving. We remain committed to building on this progress, listening to our people and continuing to take practical action to ensure our workplace is inclusive, supportive and fair for everyone.”
Andy Lyon, Senior Partner and Chair of TLT’s Promotions Committee and Impact Committee added: “Our continued inclusion in the Times Top 50 reflects our focus on embedding gender diversity into our leadership and across the firm at all levels. Through our promotions processes and governance structures, we aim to ensure opportunity is always equitable and transparent.
“We are encouraged by the progress made, but as always, we will continue to focus on sustaining momentum and delivering further change across TLT.”
