Like many other websites, we use cookies and similar technologies (“cookies”). The purpose of this cookies policy is to provide you with comprehensive information about the cookies we use and our purposes for using them.
Our cookies policy does not cover third party websites. You should review the cookies notice for any other website you use or visit.

What is a cookie?
Cookies are tiny text files that are used to improve your experience when you navigate our website. A cookie can be downloaded on your browser, device (laptop, smartphone or tablet) or the hard drive of your computer. We widely use cookies to make our website work better by improving efficiency, to collate general website usage and aggregated statistical information. They are useful because they allow our website to recognise your device, remember your preferences and tailor content to your interests through tracking your browsing across our website.
A number of websites provide detailed information on cookies, including AboutCookies.org and AllAboutCookies.org.
You can also watch a video on cookies at https://policies.google.com/technologies/cookies
Types of cookies
Cookies may be categorised as first party or third party:
- First party cookies are cookies set by a website when you visit for the time (e.g., cookies placed by www.tlt.com).
- Third party cookie are cookies that are set by a domain other than that of www.tlt.com being visited by you. If you visit our website and another entity sets a cookie through that site, this would be classified as a third-party cookie.
Cookies may also be categorised 5 broad categories. The table below sets out the different categories of cookies that we use:
Essential / necessary cookies - These help make our website usable by enabling basic functions like page navigation and access to secure areas of the website. The website cannot function properly without these cookies.
Preference cookies - These enable our website to remember information that changes the way the website behaves or looks, like your preferred language or the region that you are in.
Statistical cookies - These help us understand how visitors interact with websites by collecting and reporting information anonymously.
Marketing cookies - These are used to track visitors across our websites. The intention is to display ads that are relevant and engaging for the individual user and thereby more valuable for publishers and third party advertisers.
Unclassified cookies - These are cookies that we are in the process of classifying, together with the providers of individual cookies.
How long do cookies last?
Cookies may be regarded as session or persistent cookies:
Session cookies - Are used only while navigating our website. When the ‘session’ ends, these cookies are automatically deleted. They also help the "back" button or third-party anonymizer plugins work. These plugins are designed for specific browsers to work and help maintain user privacy.
Persistent cookies - Remain on a computer indefinitely, although many include an expiration date and are automatically removed when that date is reached. Persistent cookies are used for two primary purposes:
- Authentication. These cookies track whether a user is logged in and under what name. They also streamline login information, so users don't have to remember site passwords.
- Tracking. These cookies track multiple visits to the same site over time. Some online merchants, for example, use cookies to track visits from particular users, including the pages and products viewed. The information they gain allows them to suggest other items that might interest visitors. Gradually, a profile is built based on a user's browsing history on that site.
