TLT advises owners of leading waste recycling and specialist vehicle services operator on sale to major UK waste management services business
National law firm TLT has advised the family shareholders of PMG Services (PMG) on its acquisition by Enovert Group - one of the UK's foremost waste management companies.
PMG was established in the 1990s by Pat and Bernie McGuinness, who alongside their children Paul and Clare have built PMG into a leading specialist vehicle services and waste recycling business based in Severn Beach, South Gloucestershire. PMG operates one of the most advanced and extensive fleets of road sweepers in the street and industrial cleansing sector and provides services across the South West to the construction and quarrying sectors, local authorities as well as domestic and commercial industrial customers.
The transaction will strengthen Enovert's presence in the South West and sees the continued expansion of its specialist waste treatment and disposal services. PMG will benefit from the additional support and expertise provided by the Enovert Group, while Enovert will draw on PMG’s established reputation and customer base to support further growth in the sector.
As part of the transaction, Enovert will acquire PMG's bespoke recycling facility, opened in 2025, which incorporates specialist separation and dewatering technology. The facility processes 100% of the collected waste, transforming it into quality-assured recycled aggregates for reuse across construction and infrastructure projects, supporting the UK circular economy.
TLT advised the McGuinness family on all legal aspects of the sale to Enovert, including corporate, property, employment and tax advice. The team was led by James Webb and Luke Thorngate-Davies (Corporate), with support from Matthew Shephard, Isabel Evans, David James and Sophie Pearson (Corporate), Edward Pitt, Ellie Bennun and Emma Barrow (Real Estate), Catherine Colvin (Employment), and Rebecca Arthur, Mark Braude, Andrée Parker and William Ngan (Tax).
Commenting on the transaction, James Webb, Partner said: "We are delighted to have advised the McGuinness family on the sale of PMG, a transaction that further underlines the continued consolidation we are seeing across the waste and recycling sector. PMG has built a strong business —combining a state-of-the-art recycling facility with one of the most advanced road sweeper fleets in the South West — and we can see why Enovert identified it as a natural fit for its growing group. We wish Enovert and PMG every success as they move forward together.”
Clare McGuinness, Managing Director at PMG added: “PMG has been in family ownership since its founding, so it was important that any sale was handled with care. TLT supported us throughout the process and brought strong sector knowledge and experience of the waste and recycling market. We are grateful for their hard work and support in getting the transaction completed.”
