TLT awarded Stonewall accreditation for LGBTQ+ inclusive culture
National law firm TLT has been awarded the highest level of accreditation by the Stonewall Proud Employers Accreditation Scheme.
Recognition as a ‘Trailblazing Employer’ reflects TLT’s commitment to inclusion, with the firm endorsed for “demonstrating leadership at its finest” and being “at the forefront of change, with exceptional commitment and results that are inspiring others.” TLT was one of only 17 employers to receive the highest level of accreditation.
The Stonewall Proud Employers Accreditation is a new benchmarking and accreditation tool that is used to assess and progress LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace and is designed to support employers to foster safe and inclusive work environments where everyone can thrive. It replaces the Stonewall Workplace Equality Index (WEI).
TLT was scored across a number of categories including ‘leadership’, ‘empowering individuals’ and ‘employee network groups’. The submission was led by the firm’s LGBTQ+ employee network – one of six employee led ‘affinity’ business resource groups.
Stonewall praised the engagement of senior leaders in Pride events, the contribution of LGBTQ+ colleagues to policy and guidance documents and the inclusion of LGBTQ+ experiences in intersectional training.
The accreditation underpins TLT’s approach to client service. By fostering an inclusive culture where people feel safe to be themselves, the firm is better placed to build strong, trusted relationships with clients, reflect their values, and bring a broader range of perspectives and experiences to legal advice, problem solving and collaboration.
Commenting on the accreditation, Chief People Officer, Helen Hodgkinson said: “We are honoured to have been accredited as a Trailblazing Employer by Stonewall. It reflects the importance we place on creating a truly inclusive culture, where our people feel respected, supported and able to be themselves at work, and our people‑first approach to embedding LGBTQ+ inclusion into our operations.
“In 2024, we were awarded a Silver in the WEI. Achieving the highest level of Proud Employer recognition demonstrates the progress we have made, through real, tangible action. We are proud to be setting a benchmark for inclusive practice within the legal sector and beyond, and to play our part in encouraging others to do the same.”
Tomos Rossiter, co-chair of TLT's LGBTQ+ network added: “As co-chair of TLT’s LGBTQ+ network, I am delighted that we have received such a strong endorsement from one of the UK’s foremost LGBTQ+ charities. The Stonewall accreditation is a recognition of TLT’s values and achievements, and it sends a clear message to LGBTQ+ people and allies considering a career with TLT that this is an inclusive place to work, where everyone can be themselves.
“Being one of only a handful of organisations to receive such a prestigious ranking reflects a significant amount of hard work. I would like to thank our committee members in particular for this, and for bringing their different skills and perspectives to the table as we prepared our submission.”
Stonewall is a prominent UK human rights charity fighting for LGBTQ+ equality.
