Ahead of International Women’s Day on 8th March, UK law firm TLT has joined as a member of a new employer support programme spearheaded by leading Women’s Health Charity ‘Wellbeing of Women’ to provide the firm with knowledge and resources to support its colleagues.
Wellbeing of Women is the only UK charity dedicated to funding research, education and advocacy across all of women's reproductive and gynaecological health, including menstruation, fertility, pregnancy, childbirth, gynaecological cancers, menopause and incontinence.
The charity’s Employer Membership Programme recognises that women across the five generations currently in the workplace can be impacted by a diverse range of women’s health issues, from periods, fertility, and pregnancy to gynaecological cancers and the menopause. It will provide the firm with the knowledge, skills, and resources to support women’s health in the workplace; helping develop and shape policies and measures on a range of women’s health issues.
TLT’s participation in the programme, which is being launched to coincide with Endometriosis Awareness Week, will help the firm to deliver on its commitment to creating an even more positive, inclusive and productive workplace.
The initiative joins TLT’s range of measures aimed at improving gender equality at work, which have been developed in consultation with the firm’s Women Equality Network (WEN), including leading menopause support; an award-winning approach to flexibility – TLT World - and paid leave for pregnancy loss.
TLT has also previously collaborated with Wellbeing of Women, having signed up to the Menopause Workplace pledge in 2022.
Chief people officer at TLT, Helen Hodgkinson said: “We are incredibly proud to be among the first law firms in the UK to sign up to this programme. Recognising that women's health is different from their male colleagues and looking after them both accordingly, plays a vital role in ensuring every individual can perform at their very best, every day, both for our clients and in our teams. The health differences we are addressing in this partnership will touch all our employees at some point, whether that’s through a family member, friend, colleague, or personal lived experience. It’s important that we educate about these differences and empower our people to be open and exercise control around creating the most inclusive environment for them.”
Partner and co-sponsor of TLT’s Women Equality Network (WEN) Louise Chopra added: “In the last year headlines in the news have increasingly captured the health issues facing women throughout their lives – endometriosis, menopause, fertility – the list is long. Many of these challenges can cause barriers to women performing at their best at work, and it’s vital we recognise this to support them throughout their careers. Becoming members of Wellbeing of Women’s programme reflects TLT’s commitment to continuously support colleague wellbeing. We look forward to working with the charity to educate and empower our colleagues around some of the health issues women face at work."
