TLT shortlisted for Innovative Lawyers in Disputes award at the FT Innovative Lawyer Awards 2023
TLT’s Innovative Lawyers in Disputes award shortlisting follows the competition and regulatory team’s work – alongside Linklaters (our submission partner), Monckton chambers, Oxera economists and the in-house team – in the Competition Appeal Tribunal on behalf of the UK’s leading price comparison website, ComparetheMarket.com. Their work resulted in the successful appeal of an infringement decision and £17.9 million fine imposed by the CMA, as well as the defence of a multi-hundred-million-pound follow-on collective damages claim.
The shortlisting celebrates the judgment’s advancement of important case law in several key areas, including how “anti-competitive effects” should be assessed (it is the first case of this type ever to be brought in the UK), as well as how complex "two-sided" markets should be defined for digital platforms.
Miles Trower, case lead and competition partner at TLT said: “We’re thrilled to have been recognised amongst other European organisations who are leading in this field. This shortlisting reflects the outstanding work of our fellow competition, futurelaw and MLS colleagues. Both as a firm and as a team, we’re committed to offering the highest levels of client service, whether that’s working in seamless collaboration with other advisers, such as Linklaters, or offering creative solutions to complex and high-profile matters.”
The FT Innovative Lawyer Awards celebrate the most innovative lawyers in the European legal industry, those using influence and creative problem solving to help guide clients towards agile, sustainable outcomes. Winners will be announced at a ceremony on 21 September 2023 at the Natural History Museum, London.
