TLT renews milestone partnership with Belmont to support nature restoration and tackle climate change

National law firm TLT has renewed its longstanding partnership with Somerset-based Belmont Estate, to support nature restoration, embed sustainability into corporate culture, and fund inclusive access to nature.

TLT became Belmont’s first corporate partner in 2022, recognising the shared values of the two organisations and creating a values-driven alliance to tackle climate change, restore biodiversity, and strengthen communities.

Belmont is a Georgian estate with a 250-year history of restoration and reconnection. Today, it is on a mission to restore nature, reconnect people and inspire change through the delivery of nature-recovery projects, nature connection and community programmes and natural capital solutions across multiple sites in the UK.

Throughout the partnership, TLT has been an enthusiastic backer of Belmont’s drive to fund nationally important nature restoration projects, including supporting with the rewilding, rewetting and rejuvenation of 425,000m2 of restoration projects.

Belmont has also allowed TLT staff to learn about nature and conservation through an immersive volunteering programme. In total, over 200 members of TLT’s staff have participated in this programme, across seven volunteering days, both at the Belmont estate and in the wider Bristol area. Belmont has also provided TLT with the opportunity to offset its emissions via a high-quality programme of projects aligning with the firm’s net-zero strategy.

The new phase of the collaboration will focus on funding Belmont’s free nature connection programme; funding nationally important nature restoration projects around the UK; and funding national and international carbon projects.

The renewal of this cooperation forms part of TLT’s commitment to working with other sustainability-minded organisations to advance environmental and social goals, directly benefiting local communities.

Alongside supporting its environmental ambitions, TLT has provided legal services to the estate, including advising on Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and securing a milestone 30-year conservation covenant in January 2025.

Maria Connolly, Partner, Head of Future Energy & Real Estate at TLT said: “In 2022, we became Belmont’s first corporate partner, marking the beginning of a meaningful collaboration centred around sustainability and employee wellbeing. We’re delighted to be renewing our partnership with Belmont and look forward to working together to unlock opportunities to drive our various sustainability agendas forward.”

Henry Rossiter, Business Director at Belmont, added: “We’re delighted to continue working with TLT as a Belmont partner. Their forward-thinking approach to sustainability and their commitment to employee wellbeing aligns perfectly with our ethos. Together, we can accelerate nature recovery, climate action, and community resilience.”
