TLT advises Funding 365 on strategic acquisition by Balbec Capital

UK national law firm TLT has advised the shareholders of UK specialist property finance lender, Funding 365, on its acquisition by global alternative investment manager, Balbec Capital.

Since its founding in 2013, Funding 365 has become a recognised name in the UK bridging finance market, focused on short-term, first-charge bridging loans to UK individuals and small and medium-sized enterprises. It is known for “Fast Property Finance,” offering same-day credit terms and rapid loan execution, and has originated over 1,700 loans since inception.

The acquisition, which includes the Funding 365 origination platform and its existing loan portfolio, along with newly originated loans, provides Balbec Capital – which specialises in asset-based credit and real estate strategies – with a dedicated UK bridging loan origination platform, expanding its European real estate capabilities.

It will also enhance Funding 365’s ability to offer highly competitive, first charge bridging, development and specialist buy to let loans. The Funding 365 management team will continue to lead day-to-day operations under the new ownership.

TLT advised the shareholders of Funding 365 on all aspects of its acquisition. The team was led by Corporate Partner Andrew Glaze, with Legal Directors Leanne Fryer and Dan Whitewood. Further advice on tax related issues was provided by Mark Braude, Partner, and Rebecca Arthur, Senior Associate.

Commenting on the transaction, Andrew Glaze, Corporate Partner said: “This transaction reflects the continued strength and evolution of the UK specialist lending market, particularly within bridging and asset-based finance. Demand for flexible, fast funding solutions remains high, and we’re seeing sustained interest from global investors looking to deploy capital into well-established platforms.

“Advising on a transaction of this nature aligns strongly with TLT’s deep financial services experience and our ability to support clients across the lending and investment landscape on all aspects of their most strategic matters.”

Michael Strange, Managing Director and co-founder of Funding 365 added: “Joining forces with Balbec marks an exciting new chapter for Funding 365. The Balbec team’s deep credit expertise, institutional infrastructure, financing relationships, and technological capabilities will enable us to develop new products, grow our origination volumes, and serve our broker partners and borrowers even more effectively.

“TLT was an integral part of this transaction, and we value their outstanding sector knowledge, forward-thinking approach and collaboration to work as an extension of our team, positioning us for continued strategic growth.”
