Rebecca Arthur

Rebecca Arthur is a Senior Associate specialising in corporate tax, employment taxes and incentives, with a strong focus on complex technical tax matters, tax policy, governance and risk management.

She advises on the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and group reorganisations, as well as employee share schemes and reward structures, often in technically challenging scenarios.

Rebecca is well placed to support clients having worked closely with tax policy making, giving her deep insight into how HMRC assesses risk,  makes policy assessments and challenges transactions. This perspective enables her to anticipate issues early and help clients develop robust, defensible tax positions.

Her work helps businesses make confident decisions in complex situations - managing tax risk, navigating uncertainty and embedding effective governance. By combining technical depth with a pragmatic commercial approach, Rebecca supports clients in protecting value,  reducing reputational and financial exposure and delivering sustainable long-term outcomes.

Experience

  • Working as part of a tax policy and regulatory team engaging directly with HMRC on a number of legislative and tax policy changes, looking to help shape HMRC's thinking and feeding back market and technical concerns to influence policy development.
  • Managing complex tax matters where historic advice from large advisory firms required reassessment, leading on the technical analysis to identify issues, reassess positions and support clients in determining a robust way forward.
  • Advising on highly complex corporate tax matters, including technically challenging transactions and reorganisations where the legislation is unclear, guidance is limited or market practice inconsistent.
