TLT expands corporate tax team with new partner appointment
The appointment is part of the firm’s strategic growth of its tax practice, to further enhance the comprehensive legal support and tax advisory service provided to clients on complex commercial transactions and business structures.
Emma joins the firm from Veale Wasbrough Vizards where she led the tax team for ten years and established herself as one of the leading tax disputes lawyers in the South West. Her other expertise includes handling complex deal structuring, the negotiation of the tax aspects of mergers & acquisitions, implementing share schemes, and advising on VAT and SDLT applied to business transfers and other commercial arrangements. Emma has significant experience in tax disputes, advising her taxpayer clients on initial discussion with HMRC through to successful outcome by agreeing settlement where appropriate or proceeding to tribunal.
As part of TLT’s corporate tax & incentives team, Emma will provide a range of tax advice to the firm’s varied corporate and individual client base, which spans a wide range of sectors, and includes family and owner-managed businesses, dynamic start-ups, tech disruptors, and entrepreneurs, as well as national and international corporate groups, partnerships and private equity firms.
The firm’s corporate tax team operates across the Bristol, Belfast, Glasgow, Manchester and London offices, covering the full UK jurisdiction. Emma’s appointment brings the total number of partners in the team to three. Emma’s arrival coincides with further expansion of the team at junior level with two other solicitors joining in the coming weeks.
Ben Watson, Partner and Head of Tax, Incentives and Private Wealth at TLT, commented: “Emma has an outstanding track record in tax disputes and advising businesses and owners on the complex tax components of often high-stakes commercial transactions and business structures.
"Her pragmatic and commercially minded approach perfectly matches the needs and objectives of our dynamic corporate client base, and is an ideal fit within the firm’s wider corporate offering, which offers leading breadth of expertise across the full range of legal issues that corporates can encounter.
"We are thrilled to have Emma on the team.”
Emma Bradley, Partner at TLT, commented: “I am delighted to be joining a firm whose name has become synonymous with supporting the country’s most high-growth and high-innovation sectors and businesses through their most significant legal and commercial challenges.
The evolving tax landscape for UK corporates is increasingly complex, and when it comes to high-stakes commercial transactions, peace of mind comes from knowing you are receiving experienced legal guidance based on deep technical understanding. I look forward to working together with my colleagues in the corporate tax team to deliver this for our clients.”
